This is one Job I have completed recently which I am particularly happy with of and haven’t posted anything on it for quite a while as the product had not been released until recently.

Ayrtek are leaders in their field (excuse the pun) in making lightweight cricket helmets. The Job involved 3 shoots of mixed media; one shoot with famous ex England Batsman Vikram Solanki who wears Ayrtek Helmets, one shoot was the product itself both packshots and more moody atmospheric photographs for advertising and the last shoot was a video which was very well put together, edited and finished by my client.

The Second shoot was done in a makeshift studio in the Worcester Couty Cricket Ground chnaging Room with ex England opening Batsman Vikram Solanki. He was really helpful and gave me alot of time and was great in front of the camera.

The last part of the shoot was a video in a local cricket ground in Bristol. I am happy with the result as was very well directed and edited by the team at Mr B and Friends.

Ayrtek Video

I have recently Completed a job for Couch Design. A company based in Clifton with a shop in the Arcade. There Sofa’s Couches and chairs are very stylish and modern so are great to photograph with interesting curves and great details. Similar to antiques photography the objects are often very wide and so a big space and lots of powerful lights are needed to photograph them well. Each product presents a lighting challenge to overcome which a fun and I learn ever more about lighting different things.

They are done in two ways, a more simple white cutout and a more atmospheric darker photo with more selective low key lighting. A handful of close up details are also done during the process. Here are some of my favourites.

I have been meaning to learn how to do 360 product photography for a while. I got into the idea of interactive photography when I learnt how to do virtual tours a while ago. So I had half a day free today and set up a tabletop studio with a few strobes and played around trying to spin products on the spot keeping them in one place. I think they look allright for a first try and will make a turntable to do them easily and quickly when I have time.

Last month I had a shoot for an antiques dealer called Tim Bowen in Ferryside,Wales. I have assisted Kiran Ridley shoot antiques in this style before and all ways remember it being really fun as each object poses a new set of lighting issues that need to be overcome. I all ways enjoyed the challenge of problem solving when I was assisting doing antiques and I still found it fun when I was shooting it, but like all jobs it was alot easier when I was assisting without the pressure, deadline and reputation to worry about while shooting.
